Summer may be winding down, but the Tennessee State Parks aren't!
This month, try:
8/7 - David Crockett State Park
- Glow in the Park 5K and Back to School 1 Mile Dash
- 5K - $25 (includes 1 glow item and a shirt); $35 to register on race day
- 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Proceeds go to the Friends of David Crockett State Park

8/8 - Pickwick Landing State Park
- Wildflower identification workshop
- Free, but donations appreciated.
- 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
8/12 - Johnsonville State Historic Park
- Gypsy Moth survey
- 8:00 a.m. - noon
- Free, but donations appreciated.
- Will include training, and then groups will search for
evidence of Gypsy Moth life stages
- Groups will also provide information to RV visitors
8/14 - Warriors Path State Park
- Hike to Flint Rock
- $5
- 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
- Difficult hike of 8 miles
- Be prepared for rugged terrain, black bears, stinging nettles,
and venomous snakes.
8/20 - Cummins Falls State Park
- 10:00 a.m. to noon
- Snorkeling under Cummins Falls
- $10
- 10 participants maximum; equipment will be provided.
8/28 - Cordell Hull Birthplace State Park
- Beginning spinning wheel
- $25; maximum of 9 people
- 10:00 a.m.
- Learn to make your own yarn for your knitting or crocheting projects.
- Wheels and fiber will be provided.
8/29 - Sgt. Alvin C. York State Historic Park
- CCC Vintage Baseball League Championship Game
- 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
- Free, but donations appreciated.
